I have found that to be a great help - and it's been a critical piece that's allowed me to keep nearly 70 pounds off my frame - but a mix of meds, hormones, and now, I fear, a body that does not metabolize effectively has caused weight to creep back, and other than mindless cardio, six days a week for 45 min's a day (which feels like punishment, to be truthful) makes me think there has to be a better way ... not necessarily an easier way - but is there anything unique about how to do cardio (invervals, high intensity, duration with lower intensity) than can help me "re-train" my body to burn calories more effectively. I welcome comments from all of you - my challenge is to find fitness that is fun, rather than an effort, and incorporate it with weight training...I guess I just wonder if what I had been doing (25 min of cardio - mixed intensity on the elliptical about 2-3 days/week plus weights 2x week for about 30 min) is the right track ... or am I missing something key? Thanks much!

Howdy - I have about 100 pounds to lose, and have been active off and on -- lately off. Just had my RMR measured and found out my body does not efficiently burn fat - instead (and I'm still in the early stages here) - it burns glucose at a rapid rate, and very very slowly then starts to burn fat. My diet is healthy - with little refined sugars or even refined carbs - mostly protein, veggies, fruit and dairy, with a bit of a weakness for toast. Thoughts? How do I start to change the way my body attacks its energy store? During the measurement of my RMR -- it never even got into the fat burning zone. I have elevated cholesterol, but otherwise - no health issues.Thoughts? Comments?
