By following any type of healthy eating program with fresh food has got to be good for you. I recently read how "fresh" prawns were caught in Scotland and frozen before being shipped to Thailand where their shells were removed and then shipped all the way back to Scotland to be sold. Even with the transport costs it turned out cheaper. Fresh frozen?

I have been doing a Paleo diet now for about 2 months and have lost over 20 pounds! Not only have I felt better, but I'm starting to look a heck of a lot better as well. All of these guys that are 'haters' on the Paleo should give it a try, it will change their life!

Seriously, for some reason (gee could be money and a wee bit of draconian dogma) that forces the endless debate about what is a "true" (fill-in-the-blank). If it's not fruitarians, it's raw only vegetarians, to cooked vegetarians, to vegans or it's lacto-ovo vegetarians or fish-only vegetarians or non-meat vegetarians but chickens okay. Now we have paleo, one version from Ray Audette (whatever) who likes to eat 3 big macs without the cheese and bun, cooked paleo, raw paleo, no milk or cheese paleo, blah, blah, blah.Who cares? It's laughable that someone will with a straight face try and preach exactly what pre-historic man ate. I just find that un-believable that in order to justify a total meat diet one has to distort history. The ability of any culture with even a modest population to survive in the wild on meat alone is un-precedented. Only the Eskimos (tiny population) due to their environment have achieved this and that was almost all fish, easily caught and killed. The Swiss on the other hand took their environment and subsisted mostly on non-pasteurized dairy. So do you think if everyone ate meat only we'd run out? Or do you think? So this meat-only paleo is just a modern day spin in order to promote this or that weight loss, etc. Aajonous cleary the darling of raw paleo eaters with plenty of support and proof of his way, consumes raw dairy and recommends it.So meat eating only paleo, get off your high horse and leave everyone alone, you haven't a clue. Go down some big macs (hold the bun) or how bout dem chicken wings from your local pizza palor, hmm just soooo paleo. LMAO!I'd take meat eating paleo seriously if they actually went out in the wild and hunted down wild pig or buffalo with a spear or handmade bow and arrow. Then while still warm engorged themselves on fresh organ meat and blood. Now that's paleo! The rest of you paleo sissy's just go to McDonalds and tame that wild Big Mac!

Hi Bob, I wish not to cause an argument but I do disagree with a lot of what you are saying about me and also about the Paleo Cookbooks. I wish only to clear the air a bit with this response.I agree dairy isn't a paleo ingredient, additionally soy sauce. I don't use any dairy within the Paleo Cookbooks, I have used soy sauce in maybe two recipes however have ensured to point this out to make sure people wishing to follow a strict paleo diet know.I have never stated dairy is a paleolithic ingredient, I have, and will say that I believe dairy can be beneficial to health when it is sourced from the right animal without too much processing involved. I also can't recall a time I have ever stated protein powder is paleo friendly either - in-fact I have only ever stated the opposite. Mayonnaise isn't paleo when bought from the shops, but the ingredients used to make mayonnaise (oil and eggs) are both paleo friendly.I disagree with other foods you listed, honey is made from bees, I don't see how this isn't a food source that was available in the paleolithic times. In-fact it was, and still is, a major food source to for the aboriginal people who live off the land. Although it is not the most favorable food source (being a high source of carbohydrates and sugars) that doesn't mean it's not a natural food source.I won't go through all the foods you listed. I do believe the paleo diet has foods which are controversial as to wether they fit into the paleo diet, so I can understand and respect your concern with some food sources. If one was to mimic the paleo diet 100%, then the foods consumed would need to be based 100% on what is available on the land they are on, and the quantity/amount of food consumed would be based on the season and the environment. The Paleo Cookbooks are for the modern-day person who would like to follow a paleo diet as closely as possible, eating foods which are provided by nature. I doubt highly the paleo man/women would have ever made a salad combining lettuce, cucumber and carrot, nor would they have combined meat with zucchini to make zucchini meat balls, but the modern-day person wishing to eat paleolithic foods will generally be lenient enough with their approach to combine paleo friendly food sources to create a meal.PS. Thanks for all the feedback on the guest-post I'm glad people enjoyed the read :)

Good book. I did a recent review of it myself and couldn't find any major flaws, just one or two smaller ones. On the whole, I recommend it.

Nobody owns the Paleo diet and Cordain is certainly not the sole authority on the subject. As Nora Gedgaudas (another paleo book author) states, there have been over 20,000 papers written on the subject. Here's an interview with her:http://www.thelivinlowcarbshow.com/shownotes/982/get-primally-healthy-with-nora-gedgaudas-episode-295/
